I have 2 bank accounts, one where most of my monthly direct debits come out of, and one where only one direct debit comes out of.
I would like to move the one direct debit from my 2nd account, so it is coming out of the same bank as all my other direct debits.
I am just not sure of the best way to do this.
Thanks just wanted to check the best way as this is happening at a particularly stressful time. Just wanted to make sure there were no other ways of doing it.

All I did was visit my bank (nat west) and they did it for me, right in front of me and it took them all of about 10 minutes to do the lot. And it's worked seamlessly. I'm not sure if you could get them to do it over the phone as they would rightly want id etc but I think it would be a load off your mind to have them do it and know it was all done. That was about 6 months ago and all direct debits were paid as normal and no hiccups. Hope it helps and it's a workable solutions for you.

If the payee has online account management facilities (e.g. an ISP) it is possible that the account number for the direct debit could be changed that way.
Otherwise I'd phone the payee to arrange the change.
With just one payee I would certainly not involve the bank. It would just introduce one more organisation potentially to foul up making the change.
